Town Brook Enhancement Project - Phase 2A

Quincy, Massachusetts

Client/Owner: City of Quincy, Massachusetts
Reviewed and approved by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Marine Fisheries, the project not only served to enhance the community experience in downtown Quincy, but resulted in the added benefit of re establishing an important spawning habitat for rainbow smelt and American eel, both important, nearshore wildlife species adversely affected by the degradation of the natural brook/spring habitat in recent years.
About This Project
The Town Brook Enhancement Project represents one of three Core Public Improvement Projects the City of Quincy initiated in 2012 as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade their aging, public realm infrastructure. The work included 25,000 tons of unclassified excavation, drainage and sewer relocations, dampproffing, vegetated retaining wall, natural bottom channel with geo-cel matting and spaning substrate, construction of low flow channel, ornamental fence, and surface and river slope restoration.
